A few words from Sarah our Volunteer Co-ordinator –
As volunteer week comes to an end, I just want to say how very thankful we are to have such a talented team of volunteers. They are at the heart of the community advocacy services we deliver. From making our drop-ins a safe and welcoming space for our clients to share their concerns and get support to sort out problems; campaigning relentlessly to uphold people’s rights to equality; empowering clients in our self-advocacy groups to have their voices heard over important issues; to working with individual clients over a long period of time to help improve their lives, ensuring they get the right care and support and are accepted as valuable members of our society.
Some of our volunteers have been with Speak Out since our inception 25 years ago, many others have been volunteering with us for between 5 and 10 years and others have more recently joined our team.
The work can often be challenging and demanding but all our volunteers go the extra mile to make our community a safer and better place for some of the most disadvantaged in our city.
To all we praise you and thank you for your dedication and commitment for the many hours of time you give to make this happen.
There will be more opportunities to be part of this amazing team. If you’d like to join us, please call me, Sarah Coombes on 01273 421921 or you can apply here: http://bhspeakout.org.uk/volunteering/
