Self advocates from the Being Heard in Government group were joined at Hove Town Hall by people from Grace Eyre and West Sussex self advocacy groups to demonstrate against the treatment of people with learning disabilities and autism.
The Demonstration was part of the #strippedofhumanrights campaign; a week of action against the incarceration of people in assessment and treatment units.
The demonstration comes after the recent Panorama expose on Whorlton Hall. This in turn comes after the last shocking Panorama documentary on Winterbourne View. Promises were made after this initial scandal to close these types of institutions. People with learning disabilities say that not enough has been done.
