This Christmas, let's work together to achieve positive change in 2020!
'In the past no one listened to me. Now I feel heard. I speak up for other people too. I’m doing something to help others and make changes’
Jess, Link Group member and co-chair of Learning Disability Partnership Board
People with learning disabilities are greatly affected by the services they receive. If they don’t get the right support it affects every part of their lives from something as simple as a trip to the supermarket to the custody of their children.
Speak Out believe that people with learning disabilities are the experts on what good support is. Their views and experiences are essential in planning and commissioning social care and support.
The Learning Disability Partnership Board is a place where people with learning disabilities voice the views of their community to council commissioners, managers and other professionals.
The meetings are planned and presented by Speak Out’s Link Group. In the last year this team of people with learning disabilities has helped shape the council learning disability strategy, worked with SHAC to make sexual health services more accessible and given their advice to job centres, GPs and care providers.
This Christmas help us to make sure that people with learning disabilities have their voices heard on matters and decisions that are important to them.
Donate just £23 today or £1 (or more if you’d like to) for every day of Advent to help us support people with learning disabilities to have their voice heard.
