Learning Disability Voices Network Project Worker

Region: Based at Speak Out’s office in Brighton

Hours per week: 14 hours per week plus pension contribution

Starting Salary: £21,057 pa pro rata

Brighton and Hove Speak Out is an innovative local charity. We support people with learning disabilities to have a voice and choice and control over their lives through providing a range of advocacy services and community projects.

We are seeking to appoint a part time Project Worker to support the development of the Learning Disability Voices Network (LDVN). The LDVN is an exciting user led self-advocacy project which enables people with learning disabilities to come together, campaign  and take action about issues that are important to them. The post holder will host a weekly drop in as well as supporting the work of the LDVN Outreach Worker (a learning disabled member of staff) to provide outreach to the local learning disabled population in order to increase membership and participation.

The successful candidate will need a strong understanding in the principles of self-advocacy, good communication skills and ideally have experience of working alongside people with learning disabilities in an equal and empowering way.
