We had a very exciting day during one of our drop-in sessions at the Brighthelm centre recently, where we were visited by Chicken Mark and his family of therapy chickens and ducklings.
Our members (and Will our CEO) loved meeting the chickens and having a go at feeding them. The chickens were very calm and friendly and we all had a go at letting a chicken rest on our arms, shoulders and even heads!
Interacting with animals can be hugely beneficial to our mental health and stroking animals such as these beautiful chickens has been found to ease feelings of anxiety and improve our overall wellbeing. One of our members who has struggles with their mental health noted that it gave them a sense of peace for the first time in a long while.
